So long story short -- I totaled my car in an accident which was my fault back in December, and unfortunately did not have collision coverage on my insurance policy. I am a full-time student and have been unable to afford purchasing another car since then, and do not know when I will be able to afford another car. recently, an underage drunk driver ran his car off the road and into our fence and tore up about 100 feet or so. we had a company come give us an estimate of around $1000 to fix which includes material and labor...the insurance company of the young man that ran into our fence is only willing to pay around $600 because they are saying that the fence is 15 - 20 years old and didnt cost that much back when it was built.....now, i have a huge problem with this...is it our fault that a drunk driver ruined our fence...should we have to pay out of our hard earned money the rest to make sure the fence is put back? is there anything we can do about this? any feedback is helpful....im so mad i want this to get nationally recognized!

The insurance company wants to total the car. I do not. The insurance adjuster's estimate and the body shop's estimate is below the insurance company's valuation of the car (even adjusting for the insurance company's salvage value). The policy defines when they can total the car, when the repair cost is greater than the value + salvage value. It is not there yet. The insurance company is also cheating by unreasonably saying the value is low but even with that, the repair is less. How to I go about changing an insurance company bureaucracy so that they follow the policy?

They have asked me to send the certificate of title and the DMV form (Vehicle transfer and reassignment form).
